In my last post i shared on how to set smart goals for 2019. Today i  will be sharing 5 amazing goal setting tips.

Goal setting is an important part of starting and growing a small business.

The process doesn’t have to be lengthy and complex.

In fact, sometimes the more complicated the goal setting process is, the less likely you are able to see your goals through to the end.

What happens if you’re really pressed for time and unable to dedicate hours to an intense goal setting process?

Do you have to wait till you have a really free time (in a few months, next year or never)?

If you have just 30 minutes, you can follow these five simple steps below to set simple and clear goals for your small business.

1. Reflect

Take a few minutes to reflect; this fast-act goal setting process is important, and could easily be the toughest of the steps.

Shut out all distractions (mails, calls, memo, correspondence…) and just exist for a few minutes by yourself with your thoughts.

Think about what you’ve accomplished recently and how far you’ve come since the last time you reflected.

2. Pick a Topic

Get a piece of paper and a pen; it’s time to finally pick a topic for your goal.

This can be achieved by identifying just one word or phrase that captures what you hope to accomplish or do.

For example, if you want to set a goal focused on taking time off from work and more time for yourself?

You can write “Relaxation.”

You get the idea. Yea….

3. Make an Action Plan

This step is often missed in the process of goal setting.

You get so focused on the outcome that you forget to plan all of the steps that are needed along the way.

This step involves brainstorming every possible action that you may need to take in order to achieve your goal.

Don’t worry about neatness and order, just get everything down on a piece of paper

By writing out the individual steps, and then crossing each one off as you complete it, you’ll realize that you are making progress towards your ultimate goal.

4. Make a Commitment

One of the biggest reasons people fail to achieve their goals is because they don’t make a commitment to see it through.

You can overcome that hurdle by writing down your intentions on paper.

It’s almost like making a contract with yourself, making a promise that you will do one thing, even if it’s one small thing, to support your goal every day.

Remember to take it one action item at a time, and to take time to pat yourself on the back for the progress you make.

Even the smallest action is better than inaction, so taking it step by step will get you closer to your goal every single day.

5. Review and Reassess

Remember, goal setting is a continuous activity to be reviewed often.

Build in reminders to keep yourself on track, and make time available to review your goals.

Your destination may remain same in the long term, but the action plan you set for yourself along the way may change significantly.

Make sure the relevance, value, and necessity remain high.

And…… Finally, you are on your way to making a SMART GOAL…..
