Let’s continue, here’s the continuation of the previous post on Key Things About Goal Setting (Part II)

Goal setting  is a great way to give yourself direction, focus and motivation.

A goal that is within your reach increases motivation.

Business goals may often pull you out of your comfort zone and challenge you, if the goal and the parameters you have created are not realistic, you may be setting yourself up for failure

For instance, if you want to increase sales by 60%, your sales staff may see that goal as impossible to achieve and give up before they begin.

The 15% mark, however, may be very possible for the sales team if they have a reasonable amount of time to achieve it.

  • When setting ‘attainable’ goals in your workplace or business you must also ensure that sufficient resources are at your disposal and that your workload can accommodate this new requirement.
  • If you are unable to alter either your resources or workload then you will need to alter your goal to a lower level, or address the resource constraint, so that your goal is achievable.
  • You must believe that you can reach your goal and that it is possible to reach it within a reasonable length of time.

In addition, there are a lot of factors that come into play when determining success or failure when it comes to goals.

The feeling of discouragement can be turned around by you picturing yourself succeeding.

Practice daily affirmations and continue to remind yourself that you will succeed.

There you go! You should be a good goal setter by now!
