Cross-Selling Without Sounding Pushy

“Would you like anything else?” is the weakest form of cross-selling there is, vague, easy to decline, and usually asked at the wrong moment. Done well, cross-selling doesn’t feel like a sales tactic at all. It feels like good advice.

Why most cross-selling feels pushy

It’s rarely the offer itself that feels pushy, it’s the timing and the framing. Offering an add-on before a customer has even confirmed the main purchase, or offering something clearly irrelevant to what they asked for, reads as sales pressure rather than help.
